Description We are looking for a skilled Legal Assistant to join a growing team in Sacramento, California. This permanent, in-office role supports a dynamic group of attorneys and plays a crucial part in our boutique labor and employment law firm, specializing in public sector labor law. Responsibilities: - Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and memoranda with precision and attention to detail. - Manage attorneys' time entries and expense reporting efficiently. - Handle client intake processes, ensuring accurate and organized documentation. - Oversee docketing and calendaring activities to maintain compliance with deadlines and court schedules. - Maintain client files in the case management system, ensuring accessibility and accuracy. - Conduct research to support case preparation and legal strategies. - Perform electronic filing and submission of court documents at the state, federal, and appellate levels. - Collaborate with administrative agencies and assist in criminal law-related tasks when required. - Format, proofread, and edit documents for grammar, spelling, and proper structure. - Provide additional legal support duties as needed to meet team objectives. Requirements - Minimum of three years' experience in litigation practice, labor and employment law, or court procedures. - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other legal industry platforms. - Familiarity with case management systems, billing software, and electronic filing tools. - Strong knowledge of court rules and filing procedures for state, federal, and appellate courts. - Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and written communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Experience with administrative agencies and criminal law is a plus. - Demonstrated ability to format documents properly and ensure accuracy in all work products.
