Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Director of Claims and Risk Management to lead our client's centralized legal coordination and insurance claims function. This role is ideal for someone with a background in insurance, claims management or legal operations who is comfortable working cross-functionally across legal, finance, HR and operations teams. While this role is not responsible for providing legal advice, it plays a critical role in coordinating legal activity across the business and managing relationships with outside counsel and insurance partners.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage workers’ compensation, general liability and employee-related claims
  • Serve as primary point of contact for insurance brokers, carriers and third-party administrators
  • Gather and validate data for annual insurance renewals across all lines (WC, GL, auto, property, etc.)
  • Facilitate renewal meetings, review proposals, and coordinate internal approvals
  • Intake, triage and manage contract review requests (customer, vendor, NDA, etc.), routing to outside counsel as needed
  • Coordinate intellectual property searches and filings, working with external legal partners
  • Maintain a legal matter tracking system and support document organization
  • Support occasional dispute or litigation matters with documentation and coordination
  • Manage trailer licensing, registration and title processing across jurisdictions
  • Oversee corporate entity management, including filings, recordkeeping and coordination with registered agents
  • Monitor compliance calendars and coordinate with external counsel to ensure filings are up to date
  • Build strong working relationships across HR, safety, finance, operations and plant teams
  • Own processes related to legal and insurance workflows; identify and implement improvements
  • Track status of ongoing matters, escalate as needed and ensure timely resolution


Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in insurance, risk management, legal operations or claims coordination
  • Prior exposure to workers’ comp and general liability; experience with insurance renewals (preferred)
  • Experience managing or coordinating outside legal counsel and brokers
  • Familiarity with contracting processes and legal document management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience in manufacturing, transportation or multi-site operations (preferred)
  • JD or paralegal certification (preferred)
