Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Registered Dietitian for the Nutrition and Wellness Center Coordinator

(formerly known at the Diabetes Education Center) for PIH Health Whittier Hospital, a 523-licensed-bed acute care hospital with an average census of 300 patients.

PIH Health Whittier Hospital is located ~12 miles southeast of Los Angeles and is part of the regional healthcare network with three hospitals.

The successful candidate will:

• Be the Diabetes Education Center Coordinator requiring for the candidate to have the CDCES credential;
• Document patient care in the All Scripts program, former knowledge of this program is not required;
• perform quality improvement initiatives such as patient satisfaction rounds ;
• educate healthcare team member, including physicians and nurses;
• an ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, but is not required;

What You'll Do

• In this role, the Nutrition and Wellness Center provides education to the community on a variety of topics and is an ADA-accredited Diabetes Self-Management program
• Be responsible for the tasks as the Coordinator for the Diabetes Education Center
• Perform quality improvement initiatives such as patient satisfaction rounds
• Educate healthcare team members, including physicians and nurses
• Host courses on weight management and gestational diabetes self-management, with classes and appointments being offered in person and through telehealth

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

For those eligible for the registration exam prior to 1/1/24:

Bachelor's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

Credentials Requirement:

Meets eligibility requirements for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and will become registered within 120 days of hire. In some states and/or facilities the RD/RDN credentials is required at the time of hire
Certification/licensure as required by state(s) of practice. In some states and/or facilities state certification/licensure is required at the time of hire

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years experienced practitioner able to work with minimal supervision
